On Friday, 11 April 2025, the Chris Hani Drive Sports Ground in Etwatwa Emaphupheni, Daveyton, Benoni, was the epicenter of an inspiring movement—The Community Business Empowerment Day. This impactful event unified local entrepreneurs, government departments, nonprofit organizations, and corporate brands under a powerful shared agenda: empowering township communities through collaboration, innovation, and business development.

The event, hosted by SABHIBA (South African Business Hub for Informal Business Advancement) under the leadership of Mr. Michael Dlamini, emerged as a response to rising health and safety concerns in the informal trading sector, especially spaza shops. In line with President Cyril Ramaphosa’s national call for spaza shop compliance, SABHIBA has taken the lead in driving registration, compliance, and capacity-building initiatives for local businesses.
Corporate, Government & Grassroots Impact
A vibrant presence was brought by Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA), whose branded displays and community-focused team added professionalism and energy to the day. Their active participation reflected their commitment to community development and partnership with township businesses.

Among the notable SABHIBA-aligned businesses showcased were:
- Home Alone Trading (Kwa Ndlovu)
- Ramusho Tuck Shop
- Foodies Palace
- Chicago Tuck Shop
- Hlabangani Tuck Shop
- Michael Dlamini Beverage Suppliers
These businesses are now receiving media, marketing, and branding support through SABHIBA’s partnership with SA Rainbow News Media, which continues to uplift township entrepreneurs.
