Among the graduates was Palesa Vinolia Jobe from Ekangala, Bronkhorstspruit, who described the programme as a life-changing experience.

“I saw that most jobs and even small businesses require computer skills,” she explained. “I wanted to stop relying on others for typing, emails, and basic computer tasks. This course gave me the confidence I needed.”

Palesa highlighted Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet skills as some of the most valuable tools she gained during the programme.

“These skills will help me apply for jobs online, create professional CVs and cover letters, and manage records if I start my own business. Employers look for computer-literate candidates, and now I can confidently meet that requirement.”

Reflecting on the Financial Literacy Course, Palesa said she learned the importance of budgeting, distinguishing between needs and wants, and developing a savings culture.

“Before this training, I spent money without a plan. Now I understand that budgeting gives you control over your finances. I have learned that even small savings can make a big difference in the future.”

Another graduate, Amanda Mahlangu from Rethabiseng, shared how the programme helped her overcome fears around technology and develop practical skills for the future.

“Most jobs today require basic computer skills, and I didn’t want to be left behind. I joined the course to learn from the beginning, including typing, Excel, and PowerPoint. These skills will help me apply for administrative positions and even assist my children with their schoolwork.”

Amanda believes the knowledge gained through the programme will also support her entrepreneurial ambitions.

“I want to use these skills to build my own website, run online advertisements, track sales, and manage business operations independently during the early stages of my business journey.”

Speaking about the Financial Literacy Course, Amanda emphasized the importance of understanding debt and financial planning.

“I learned that debt often costs more than savings earn. Understanding interest rates and managing debt responsibly has changed the way I think about money and financial decisions.”

She encouraged other young people to take advantage of similar opportunities.

“Don’t wait for the perfect time. These programmes teach valuable life skills that many people never learn in school. You gain confidence, teamwork skills, and practical knowledge that can open doors for your future.”
