TEMBISA, GAUTENG — Winnie Mandela Open Field was transformed into a vibrant hub of opportunity on 26 August 2026, as SA Young Vision Pty Ltd, in partnership with the Department of Employment and Labour, hosted the Career & Business Symposium Complexities Activation Day.
The activation brought together government departments, financial institutions, training providers, youth organisations, private-sector companies, SMMEs, entrepreneurs and community organisations, creating a platform where residents could access career guidance, employment information, business opportunities, products and essential community services right on their doorstep.

TEMBISA COMMUNITY SHOWS UP IN NUMBERS
Residents of Winnie Mandela and surrounding areas came out in numbers, with young and older community members embracing the opportunity to interact directly with organisations and businesses operating across different sectors.
The atmosphere was energetic throughout the day, with exhibitors showcasing their products, services and programmes while engaging directly with beneficiaries. The event also gave SMMEs an important opportunity to increase their visibility, promote their brands, connect with potential customers and establish new business networks.

STAKEHOLDERS BRING OPPORTUNITIES CLOSER TO THE COMMUNITY
The success of the activation was strengthened by the presence of a wide range of stakeholders who responded to the invitation and brought different opportunities and services to the people of Tembisa.
The stakeholders present included TSHIPI-NOTO, Standard Bank, ACTOM, African Bank, FNB, AVBO, Capitec Bank, Bitcoin Trading, EASTC Technocentric Varsity, Sello SA-Tlou Youth Center, Get INFORMED Youth Development, the IEC Department, GMLSe, Boston City Campus, Botle Buhle Brands, GDA, Art Discovery Science, the Department of Employment and Labour, Social Development GBV, SAFE-HUB and MAMA D “Fast Food.”
Each participating organisation brought a unique offering, allowing beneficiaries to engage directly with institutions, businesses, training providers, youth organisations and service providers.

DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND LABOUR SUPPORTS JOB SEEKERS
A key stakeholder at the activation was the Department of Employment and Labour, which played an important role in assisting job seekers.
Officials helped residents with CV submissions for the department’s database, provided guidance on how to use the online employment portal and shared information about available vacancies.
For many job seekers, having direct access to employment information and guidance represented an important opportunity to take practical steps towards finding work.

GMLSe: BUILDING SKILLS FOR THE GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN
Among the organisations sharing specialised career opportunities was GMLSe, a training provider specialising in Freight Forwarding, Customs Compliance, Supply Chain Management and Short Skills Courses.
According to GMLSe representative Mr Lesiba, the organisation is accredited by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) and offers internationally recognised FIATA programmes, including the FIATA Diploma in Freight Forwarding and the FIATA Higher Diploma in Supply Chain Management.
GMLSe explained that its programmes provide learners with an understanding of the supply chain process, including importing and exporting, customs procedures, transportation, warehousing and international trade operations.

The organisation also introduced its Port Virtual Lab, a practical training platform that provides learners with simulated experience in cargo movements, shipping operations and international trade activities.
