TEMBISA, EKURHULENI – Tembisa South SAPS demonstrated its commitment to both officer wellness and community safety on Wednesday, 29 July 2026, by participating in the Ekurhuleni North District Football League and conducting a public awareness campaign aimed at combating online shopping scams.

Earlier in the day, members of the Tembisa South SAPS Social Crime Prevention Unit took part in a football match against Actonville SAPS as part of the Ekurhuleni North District Football League at Esiqongweni Sports Ground.
The match, which kicked off at approximately 15:00, was attended by station commanders and SAPS members from both stations, who showed their support for the players and promoted camaraderie among law enforcement officials.

Tembisa South SAPS emerged victorious with a 2–1 win over Actonville SAPS.
Speaking after the match, Tembisa South Station Commander Colonel Pero encouraged members to prioritise their physical fitness and overall wellbeing by making full use of the Wednesday sports programme.
He also urged officers to remain committed and dedicated to their daily responsibilities in serving the community and working towards making Tembisa a safer, crime-free area.
The Actonville Station Commander congratulated Tembisa South SAPS on their victory, acknowledging the strength of the team and expressing optimism for a better result in future fixtures.

On the same day, Tembisa South SAPS, in partnership with the Community Policing Forum (CPF), conducted a community awareness campaign focusing on the growing threat of online shopping scams and cyber fraud.
The campaign aimed to educate residents about common online fraud tactics, including fake websites, fraudulent online sellers and suspicious payment requests. Community members were encouraged to verify sellers before making payments, use secure payment methods and report suspected scams to SAPS.

The awareness campaign sought to empower residents with practical knowledge to protect themselves against financial losses while strengthening cooperation between SAPS, the CPF and the community in combating cybercrime.
Police believe that increased public awareness will help reduce the number of online fraud victims, encourage the reporting of scam-related incidents and improve the effectiveness of investigations into cybercrime.
