Gauteng Young Vision (GYV) – under the visionary leadership of Mr. Elias Sibeko, Chairman of Gauteng Young Vision NPO and Founder of SA Young Vision Marketing & Advertising (SA Rainbow News) – has launched an ambitious programme titled Sports and Education 2025 & Action Plan 2030. This initiative aims to transform sports and education for youth, learners, parents and communities across South Africa.
#YouthEmpowerment #SportsAndEducation

The Sports and Education 2030 Vision is a long-term strategy designed to ensure quality performance, inclusion, and access to opportunities. It focuses on improving the experiences of youth and learners through enhanced sporting and teaching materials, mentorship, and strengthened social infrastructure. The Action Plan 2025 sets out 27 key goals that will drive this transformation and embed a culture of sports and education within GYV programmes.

According to Mr. Sibeko, GYV Sports and Education supports these goals in two critical ways:
- Enhancing Youth Talents and Life Skills – GYV offers youth in townships support to develop their talents and life skills, including critical thinking, decision-making, and coping mechanisms. This approach helps players and learners better appreciate the importance of education while equipping them to deal with life’s challenges.
- Retention and Self-Development – The initiative assists young people in self-development, building resilience, and fostering a positive mindset that keeps them engaged in both sports and education. In doing so, the programme directly contributes to achieving Goal 2030 of the Action Plan 2025, which seeks to use schools as hubs for public health and poverty reduction interventions.

“Learning cannot happen if learners are struggling physically or emotionally,” Mr. Sibeko explains. “Our coaches, qualified teachers, and social workers will work together to ensure young people receive the support they need to thrive in the classroom and on the field.” By referring youth to appropriate community services such as guidance counsellors, social workers, or healthcare facilities, GYV helps maximize outcomes in access, retention, and achievement.
#InclusiveLearning #CommunitySupport

GYV Sports and Education is a shared responsibility between the departments of Sports, Arts, Culture & Recreation, Basic Education, and Health. Beneficiaries are encouraged to view the programme as a key pillar of care and support for sporting and learning in townships.
“The vision of the GYV Sports and Education Project is that the educational rights of vulnerable children in South Africa are realised through schools becoming inclusive centres of learning, care, and support,” says Mr. Sibeko. “We are mainstreaming care and support for all youths within schools and communities to address barriers to sports and education for children in South Africa.”
#EducationForAll #SportsForAll

The GYV Sports and Education Programme covers all sporting codes for boys, girls, and even elderly participants — from grassroots development to professional levels. The project will begin in Tembisa and expand to other townships across all nine provinces. With sports coaches for various codes, qualified teachers, and social workers, GYV is poised to make the Vision 2030 Action Plan a reality.
