TEMBISA, GAUTENG – The SAPS Women’s Network, in partnership with the Community Policing Forum (CPF), hosted a Women’s Day High Tea Celebration at the Tembisa Mess Hall on Friday, 15 August 2025, under the theme “Dress to Kill.”

The gathering recognised women as the heartbeat of communities, celebrating their care, compassion, courage, and commitment in the face of social challenges. It was more than just a celebration — it was a platform for learning, empowerment, and strengthening bonds within the policing and community sectors.

Speakers encouraged women to uplift one another, embrace continuous learning, and share their knowledge with the younger generation. They stressed the importance of understanding modern technology, adapting to current lifestyles, and motivating youth to be actively involved in community development.

Pastor Dimpho Mpila, delivered a moving message about perseverance and forgiveness.
Octovia Ngwenya, Deputy Director of Community Safety, urged women to excel in their duties, share information, and cultivate excellence in their ministries.
Captain Tebogo Nthlabile, a police social worker, spoke on love and unity among women, and also addressed the pressing issue of domestic challenges.
Nthabiseng Mkhize from Success Entertainment Academy highlighted the need to uplift young talent, promote charity work, and teach love through arts and entertainment, supported by Motlatso Motloutsi.
An Old Mutual financial advisor closed the programme with vital insights into financial empowerment as a key tool for women’s independence.

The event also shone a spotlight on the importance of community volunteering, recognising that collective action is the backbone of social change. Special thanks were extended to all participating stakeholders — including the CPF, SAPS members, Queen Milly, Chairlady of Tembisa Parliament; Mpho Molangwane, Chairlady of Teens On Mission Foundation; and many others who played a role in making the event a success.

The celebration carried an extra touch of joy as Bongani Monica Chilenge, a dedicated CPF member born on 9 August, marked her birthday alongside fellow women leaders and community members — a fitting reminder of the personal and collective milestones that make such gatherings meaningful.

As the tea cups emptied and the day’s conversations lingered, one clear message emerged: women in policing and society are not just protectors — they are builders, teachers, and changemakers, passing strength and wisdom to future generations.
