Speaking during the event, the organisers expressed gratitude to all participants, beneficiaries, and partners who honoured the invitation and contributed to making the day a success.
The symposium provided young people with career guidance, information on bursary opportunities, entrepreneurship support, and networking opportunities. SA Young Vision Advertising and Marketing also assisted learners and youth with bursary application processes, helping them access opportunities for higher education and skills development.

A key focus of the event was the involvement of the SA Young Vision Elite Development Academy. Parents and guardians were invited to attend a meeting aimed at strengthening relationships between the Academy, players, and families while discussing upcoming development projects and programmes.
However, organisers expressed concern regarding the low attendance of parents and guardians. Out of more than 40 Academy players, only three guardians attended the meeting, while one parent formally submitted an apology for her absence. The remaining invited parents and guardians did not attend despite receiving invitations and prior communication regarding the importance of the engagement.
The organisers highlighted the importance of parental involvement in children’s development, noting that young people often achieve greater success when supported by parents, guardians, and communities. They emphasised that investing in a child’s future is not limited to financial support but also includes time, encouragement, guidance, and active participation in educational, sporting, and developmental activities.

The event also served as a platform to encourage community members to support children in education, sports, arts, leadership programmes, and other extracurricular activities. Such initiatives help keep young people focused on positive goals while reducing exposure to social challenges that affect many communities.
Organisers stressed that when communities invest in young people, they help develop future professionals, entrepreneurs, athletes, and leaders who can contribute positively to society and the economy.

Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunities provided during the symposium.
Jessica Nomasonto Cibi said she attended the event after hearing about it through her mother. Her goal was to obtain information about career choices and marketing opportunities. She stated that her expectations were met and described the bursary opportunities presented during the programme as the most valuable aspect of the event.
“The information I received will help me make informed career choices. Young people should take every opportunity and piece of information seriously because it may help them in the future,” she said.

Another participant, Peaceful Kurhula Machabe, who recently completed a Medical Secretary qualification, said the event provided valuable career guidance and networking opportunities.
“I gained a better understanding of career development, professional networking, job application processes, and the importance of continuously improving my skills. The event motivated me to continue applying for employment, learnerships, and professional development opportunities,” she said.
Machabe also encouraged young people to attend similar programmes, network with others, ask questions, and take advantage of opportunities designed to support their personal and professional growth.

Another beneficiary, Nondumiso Mazibuko, shared her appreciation for the opportunities provided through SA Young Vision Advertising and Marketing Connect.
Mazibuko said she first learned about the symposium through the SA Young Vision Advertising and Marketing Connect group and was motivated to attend because of the life-changing opportunities she had already experienced through the organisation’s Soft Skills Development Programme.
Her main expectation was to apply for a bursary, and she was pleased that attendees received the bursary application forms as promised.
“The Soft Skills Development Programme has been one of the most valuable experiences for me. One of the important lessons I gained was learning how to manage my personal finances,” she said.
Mazibuko also took the opportunity to engage with organisers and ask questions regarding the bursary programme, particularly seeking clarity on how the funding process works for beneficiaries.
Reflecting on her personal journey, she described the opportunity as one of the most significant experiences in her life.

“This opportunity is one of the greatest things that has ever happened to me. Through the programmes offered by SA Young Vision, I continue to see a better version of myself every day,” she said.
She encouraged other young people to believe in the organisation’s vision and take advantage of the opportunities made available to them.
“I encourage young people to trust and believe in SA Young Vision Advertising and Marketing Connect because it is changing lives,” she added.
As a recommendation for future events, Mazibuko emphasised the importance of time management and encouraged organisers to continue striving to start programmes on time.
Her testimony reflects the positive impact that youth development initiatives can have in empowering young people with knowledge, confidence, and opportunities to build successful futures.

Entrepreneurs attending the event were encouraged to participate in market days, business exhibitions, and development seminars. Organisers highlighted that township business exhibitions provide valuable platforms for small businesses to showcase products and services, attract customers, build partnerships, gain market exposure, and contribute to local economic development.
The symposium reinforced the message that strong communities are built through collaboration between young people, parents, entrepreneurs, businesses, and development organisations working together to create opportunities and drive sustainable growth.
