The Ekurhuleni North Community Development Forum successfully convened a Stakeholders Engagement on 05 February 2026 at the Methodist Church, Mashimong Section, Tembisa (1632). The engagement brought together a wide range of community-based organisations, government departments, faith-based organisations, and civil society partners committed to strengthening community development and collaboration across Ekurhuleni North.

The programme commenced with an opening prayer led by Mrs Mary Selepe, followed by a prayer from Bishop Kubheka, setting a tone of unity and shared purpose. Stakeholders were then given an opportunity to introduce themselves and outline the services they provide within the community, highlighting the diverse support systems available to residents.

A comprehensive background on Ekurhuleni North Community Development was presented by Bishop Michael Mtshali, outlining the historical context, current challenges, and the importance of coordinated efforts in addressing social issues. This was followed by Mr Malala, who clearly articulated the purpose of the engagement, emphasizing partnership-building, service integration, and sustainable community impact.

The engagement featured impactful presentations, including “Violence Prevention for Peaceful and Inclusive Communities” delivered by Ntuthuzelo Fuzile, which focused on reducing violence and promoting social cohesion. Another key presentation was “Heartlines: Fathers Matter” by Mr Fana Mahlangu, addressing the role of responsible fatherhood in building stable families and healthier communities.

During the engagement, Tembisa stakeholders strongly emphasized the importance of supporting one another as community activists, without pride or competition. It was highlighted that genuine collaboration and humility are essential in ensuring effective service delivery and meaningful impact. Stakeholders further noted that through mutual support, organisations are better positioned to keep the township informed and alert to all forms of community events and initiatives. The engagement reinforced the belief that working together as one big family strengthens community resilience. Unity, love, and growth were identified as trusted values and companions toward achieving shared community goals.

Further discussions included a follow-up on the upcoming Marriage Seminar, led by Mr Malala, and an open dialogue on strengthening collaboration, sharing organisational plans, and improving service referrals among stakeholders. Participants were encouraged to align their programmes to ensure efficient community support and avoid duplication of services.

The session also allowed space for inputs, announcements, and reflections from stakeholders. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Mr Bongani Masina (PCO), acknowledging the commitment and participation of all organisations present. The engagement concluded with a closing prayer led by a Faith-Based Organisation (FBO) representative from Ekurhuleni North, reaffirming collective commitment to community upliftment.
