The Ekurhuleni West TVET College (EWC) contingent delivered a stellar performance at the recent World Skills Gauteng Provincial Competition, showcasing their technical and vocational prowess.
Held from October 13–17, 2025, at Tshwane South TVET College and Tshwane North TVET College, the event saw EWC students excel in10 skills areas, including Hairdressing, Cooking, Restaurant Services, Mobile Robotics, Carpentry, Automobile Technology, IT Network System Administration, IT Software for Business Solutions, Welding, and Electrical Installations.

The outcome was a resounding success, with EWC students securing an impressive 10 medals – 3 Gold, 3 Silver, and 4 Bronze. This achievement is a testament to the college’s commitment to nurturing talent and providing students with the skills needed to succeed in their chosen careers.

  • Cooking: Lusani Nesindande (Gold) and Ntsiki Twala (Silver) showcased exceptional culinary expertise, impressing judges with their creativity and technique.
  • Restaurant Services: Karabelo Seqhoang (Gold) and Keketso Monaheng (Bronze) demonstrated excellence in hospitality, providing top-notch service and attention to detail.
  • Mobile Robotics: Lethabo Happiness Tsela and Siyabonga Clement Seabela (Gold) highlighted the college’s strength in cutting-edge technology, showcasing their innovative skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Carpentry: Calvin Tefu (Silver) and Mpho Tsita (Bronze) showed skill and precision in woodwork, crafting impressive pieces that showcased their technical expertise.
  • Electrical Installations: Phenelo Metswamere (Silver) demonstrated technical prowess, while Sthabiso Ndaba (Bronze) contributed to the college’s medal tally in Welding.
  • Automobile Technology: Mokete Mashiloane (Bronze) rounded out the medal winners, demonstrating a strong understanding of automotive systems.

The Gold medal winners will represent Gauteng in the National Competition scheduled for early next year.
